It was really great to see how involved and excited Al, Heidi and children are
about our clan and the games. Nathan wants to learn to do all the games so he can
compete, and Hannah was more talkative this time and really at ease with us all.
It's too bad the rain came, because some of the competitors told Nathan they would
show him the ropes that afternoon after the competition was over. Nathan had signed
a waiver and was ready to go on the field when the darn storm hit. Well, here's always
next year, Nathan! They are a great family and a wonderful addition to our "family."
And Al is awaiting the arrival of his kilt from Scotland for next year's events!
Our tent was right next to the MacRaes and I know Murl assigns where each clan
is situated. I felt flattered that he chose to put us right next to his clan's tent.
I got to meet his wife, Margaret, and found her to be delightful. On the other side
of us was Clan Keith, hosted by Allene and her two grown daughters. They were a lot
of fun, all three of them. We learned from her daughters that Allene has an alter
ego named Norma (I think) June Higgins, an editor of the fictional Uniontown Newspaper.
She does a standup routine as the editor of a small town newspaper and has performed
at many venues since she began entertaining a year ago. I'd love to be located next
to them again. Clan Mactavish International and Dunardry Heritage Association
The Columbus games went great. We had at one time on Saturday 11 clansmen. Renee,
her husband, a Bruce, and their daughter joined us - they stopped by last year too
when he joined Clan Bruce. Renee joined us! Deb showed up unexpectedly (she said
she e-mailed us that she was coming but we didn't get it!). It was good to see her
again. Then of course Harold & Patsy, & Ted & Pam came for the weekend. We all have
such a good time together.
Saturday we got rained out at 3:00. The bad part of that was that Edward Dietz
came late and was changing into his kilt when the rain hit. We got separated and
we didn't see him again, I hope he doesn't feel we neglected him - we just couldn't
